Why I am qualified to teach Traffic Safety |
This merit badge covers the legal requirements for driving a motor vehicle along with safety issues that are encountered daily when operating or riding in a vehicle. There is a big emphasis on DWI (Driving While Impaired) laws and the consequences of drug and alcohol-realted accidents and arrests. There is a DWI practical exercise involving a golf cart and "beer googles" to help teenagers understand the difficultly of operating a motor vehicle safely while impaired. You will learn how to check several pieces of safety equipment on a vehicle to ensure operability.
